Are hair feathers back?

The short answer is YES!!! Hair feathers have been sighted on Tik Tok, Instagram and in salons around the country already this spring and it seems things are just getting started!

Hair feathers are notoriously more popular in the summer. They make excellent additions to festival hair and they have that vacation vibe.

Last summer Addison Rae famously wore black and white hair feathers and that began a frenzy that has been going strong ever since. What celeb will we spy wearing them this summer? That remains to be seen!

10 Ways to Style Hair Feathers https://featherlily.com/10-ways-to-style-hair-feathers/ Sat, 02 Apr 2022 10:58:09 +0000 http://featherlily.com/?p=1462

10 Ways to Style Hair Feathers

1. Bright and Bold- The first way to wear feathers, and possibly the best, is to be bright, bold, and put them everywhere! We love the look of @e9xkeely  on IG… Way to be extra!

2. Subtle Accent Feathers- Coming in at number two is the opposite of bold, but somehow still has a huge impact. This is the subtle and more natural look, as seen beautifully styled by @coloredbyliz on IG.

3. Hidden Feathers – Another favorite is to hide your feathers so they only show when you want them to be highlighted. An excellent placement for this style is at the nape of the neck and then the feathers are on full display only when your hair is in an updo.

4. Ponytail- Love the updo but want your feathers to be the main attraction in your hair? Consider styling your feathers into your ponytail and then wait for the compliments to come pouring in.

5. Just Bangs- We love this look! Why not add shorter feathers into your bangs for a fun weekend.

6. Thick Feathers- Many hair feathers are just thin strands, but the thick and fluffy feathers can be an attractive statement piece. Try wearing them behind your ear for an eccentric look.

7. Short Hair Styles- Think you have short hair so feathers are not for you? No way! We are obsessed with this short curly look on @rachellinger_12 who shows just how great feathers can be on shorter styles.

8. Long and Wavy- Did you know you can wash, dry, curl, and straighten feathers?  Stagger them throughout long hair, especially behind your ear, to give the look of additional length. Then feel free to style them to match your hair pattern.

9. Braided- Your feathers can do anything your natural hair can do and that includes a braid! A fun pop of color is the perfect addition to any braided look you decide to create.

10. Feathers Everywhere- Finally, why not go all out! For a night on the town or fun festival hair, you cannot have too many feathers.

How Long Will Hair Feathers Last?

So you love your new hair feathers and hope they last forever…but will they? Here is the scoop on what you can expect for the life expectancy of your feathers.

First things first, we are talking about real hair feathers here, not the fuzzy knock of fake feathers that are actually synthetic hair. And seeing that we are talking about real feathers, you can expect them to last as long as any feather you have ever saved…which is honestly forever if they are in the package.

If you put hair feathers in your hair with microlink beads, you can expect them to grow out at the rate of about ½ inch a month. You can easily take out the feathers and replace them about every two months to prevent grow out.

Wearing them in your hair can cause damage to them over time, especially if you use heat tools. If they are dyed bright colors, then the dye can also lighten over time.

All of this said, with gentle care and the replacement of beads as needed, your feathers can last 3-6 months and beyond.
